MIXED BAG SOUL

My soul is a mixed bag, A righteous rag. With love for the Word, And lust for this world. Truly my delight, Is with the law of light. But this sin I love, O' for grace to move. See my love for pomp, Lies within my saintly cup. Mixed bag soul, Thou can be whole. At dark, there pleasured, Reveals my sin treasured. For Satan's beckon, I follow for a second. But at the cross,  Christ died and took my dross. My sin's debt was fully paid, This guilt I did trade. Mixed bag soul, Hunch back Faith, Christ never-ending love, Makes thee whole. ©Lemuel 06-08-2021

DAFFODILS

Ho! you've seen a field of daffodils? Summer birth these beautiful contingents. Seductively swaying in hot air, O' daffodils, sweet reflection  Of such careless beauty. Life is short, love is long. Your yellow yonder, O' what wonder, My fragile heart thunders, Anticipation make'ee shudder. Love is a gift from God. Daffodils, daffodils, daffodils, Why capture my heart? Nature bares it's beauty, Not in high but common sights. You worth more than a million daffodils. Common but carelessly beautiful; Seductively swaying in hot air, Your yellow yonder, O' what wonder. Forgive my tardy brush strokes, Lemuel 6-06-21

Hello sweet maiden, it's my pleasure To open the year by confessing you're my treasure. To walk through life pressures With you brings comfort without measure. Dear sweet maiden, with a heart lifted I pray You will walk through the year and not stray.  Nought will take you astray, Nor make cause a reason to dismay. O sweet maiden! PENITENCE

PENITENCE  Though dark the alleys,  I will follow the light. I will find the light, Where darkness assay. O dark soul of mine, Yield all dross of thine. Vacillate not tender; Be firm thou slender. My soul, my soul, See the cross. My heart, my heart, Recall his pain. For sweet porridge, I sold him. For dark passions, I denied him. Call me Judas, Call me Esau, Call me Demas, Call me David. Remember my penitence  Hagia Sophia. 8-05-21

MY PRAYER

*MY PRAYER* O Silent light, where is thy abode? Perfect stillness gift me thy address. Thou knowest all I have you bestowed; To what cause do I seek thee but redress. Would thou eat cupcake and act mum? While my life gets to the end of the rope. Thou can make; please don't act so dumb. How do I cope with your silent nope? Ruler of the winds please bid me come; Lemme set sails to the future of my dreams, Life is short, soon I 'll need to head home. O guide my ship down life's troubled streams. Thou alone knows my story, Thou alone bestows the glory. L'Sagez

IT'S NOT A FULL STOP

It's not a full stop, We'll get to the top. Though we are hit by a virus Which can cause us a sinus, There is a silver lining in the sky, A cause for us to fly. Because we live, we'll hang on to hope; Though the world around us say nope.  We've set our eyes to get to the height Though the pain around leaves much weight. We'll dust our butt and forget the rot, We'll clean the dirt, erase the dent. Blistering bent broken bone, Tired tried tearful torn; Yet we choose to remain,  Happy, healthy, hellish hopeful. Nothing is gonna bring us down,  We'll play the game and get a touch down, We fight this beast and win it hands down. We'll choose not to stay down  No matter what knocks us down. Well, you'll call it faith, But for me,winning is my fate. Sweet relief comes like a dove, New vaccines come in their droves, Right time to get to the groove, No looking back; this time we move.

MUM

*MUM*  Mum I LOVE YOU, For who you are, And for all you represent in my life For being there, And for loving me too. I celebrate you Mum And I forever will, 'Cause you stand out amongst all women. You care like no other. And your eyes can't hide How much love you have for us. Your zeal for the kingdom is so outstanding. All those times we stood, Waiting for vehicles to take us to church, Because of your new found faith, Were so remarkable for me. It was a journey every Sunday. To a place so far from home, Yet you weren't dismayed, You handed everything over to God, Your children inclusive, Now, it has all paid off. Mum, You're everything virtuous. I still wonder how you do it, You'll rather receive hurt than hurt another, You watch over us so jealously, that I hope we can breathe (Laughs). You see the best in us even after our several falls. My Dad's heartthrob, His confidanté, His one and only. You're the glue that has brought us all as one. You radiate so

DEAR SAPPHIRE

Dear Sapphire, My pen is alarmingly weak and rusty. It's been a while I wrote and my mind is blank. This coffee is bland, Please take no offence. This poem is about me, but for you.  Life is a wave, sometimes you crest, other times you trough. I hope my physics is accurate? Coz, this time it is not a crest. Waiting it is. It's like two waves cancelled and the lines levelled out. But you gonna be careful coz, it could easily trough. So you have to set your face continually to the sun, Maybe it's retained warmth will make the night not so cold and lonely. The advice is simple; believe in waiting. Be strong, be steady; O dear, but there is a myth in being strong. Faith can seem fleeting at times and man want to just let go. But we have to keep the faith steady. We've got to finish strong. We keep believing that all things work together for good. Lemme end my diatribe by saying to you Princess Sapphire, Finish strong. Steadily cross the line of your program. Keep the faith.

RED: A SONNET

RED: A SONNET Stripes split his skin; Every strike cutting through his  veins,  Till his strength was stretched thin.  O such a great pain for lives lived in vain!  Crown of thorns pierced his skull,  His white garment turns crimson.  Crucify him was the call, Then he was chained and cast into prison.  Covered in bruise, soaked in blood;  He didn’t dream of such a night.  Lord of sea, conquered by the flood.  He will rise to shine as light.  Though he has died and bled,  His love took my stead.  Lemuel.
